2010 Robot's Name
Written by Daniel Cuesta
Saturday, 16 January 2010
the 2010 robot was christened with a name.  The name is “Mia” after the prolific soccer player on the Olympic Gold Medal US Team, Mia Hamm.

There were nearly as many mentors as team members Saturday morning.  Therefore, attendance will be taken daily with the compilation being used for those who will qualify for the trip to Raleigh North Carolina.

FIRST Robotics Competition Team 21 was started in 1996 to share and expand USFIRST's vision with students of Astronaut and Titusville High Schools in Titusville, Fl. Our mentors, Scott Strickland from Boeing, James Rallo from Upper Mohawk Inc, Stephen Stout from ASRC Aerospace, Kevin Cunningham from USA, and Jeff White, assist the ever-expanding team of high school students design, construct, and program a fully functional ~120 lb robot and facilitate the development of important life skills such as teamwork, communication, and leadership.

Members of ComBBAT choose to participate in Construction, Animation, Programming, Design, and Web Design. Members can participate in multiple or all of these activities and are encouraged to try and learn new skills. Ambitious members can run for one of the team officer positions in a democratic election. Most importantly, our mentors and student officers work together to make each meetings a learning experience for all involved.

Last year'sFIRST Robotics Competition pits two teams of robots against eachother on a slippery plastic surface with dozens of orbit balls (or "moon rocks"). Each team must collect the moon rocks as well as transform the differently colored "empty cells" into higher scoring "super cells" and toss them into goals trailed by the opposite team's robots. The resulting flurry of action results in Lunacy never before experienced in a FIRST arena!
